What is an RSS Feed?

RSS feeds allow you to keep up to date with new content added to websites without visiting all of the individual websites to check for updates. We offer a feed of all the Hints & Tips we post and you can subscribe to this to ensure you don't miss a thing.

OK, but how does it work?

When you visit a website, look for the RSS feed icon which shows you an RSS feed is available. You are able to subscribe to the feed by clicking on the link or copying the feed URL into your feed reader (more about this below). Your feed reader will check that website regularly and collect the latest content ready for you to read. So now, instead of you having to visit lots of websites to check on the latest sports news, share prices or latest product on sale, you just open up your feed reader and view it all there. Each piece of content will contain a link so that you can easily go back to the website for more information. Easy.

What do I need?

You will need to have a 'Feed Reader' to manage your subscriptions and display feed contents, and there are plenty to choose from which won't cost you a penny. You can also decide if you want to install software on your PC or Mac or simply use an online service which means you can access it from anywhere. We have listed some popular feed readers below.
